Hatari Lodge and Shu’mata Camp are reachable by domestic flights for the first time!

In time to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Hatari! - the Movie beginning in June 2012 our Shu’mata Camp will be reachable by flight for the first time. From here you can also connect flights via Arusha to Serengeti or Zanzibar.

Coastal Aviation will fly the following new routes staring June 2012:
West Kilimanjaro Airstrip (Shu’mata Camp) – Arusha – Serengeti and back.
West Kilimanjaro Airstrip (Shu’mata Camp) – Swahili Coast (Pangani) – Zanzibar and back.

Starting at Hatari Lodge we offer different safaris to the Arusha National Park over our own safari company The African Embassy Safaris. You may visit the Ngurdoto Crater (the little brother of the famous Ngorongoro Crater) or you have a canoeing safari on the Momella Lakes passing by thousands of flamingos. In combination with a stay at Shu'mata Camp at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro you may admire africa's highest mountain from different points during our Kilimanjaro Safari Circuit and explore the culture of the Maasai people. Just in time for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of HATARI! the movie we offer three different safari's to the original settings of this classical Hollywood movie.
