Amboseli Ecosystem (with PDF)
The Amboseli National Park lies at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro near the border of Tanzania and nearby Shu'mata Camp. The elephants of Amboseli have a legendary story. This barren land scattered with “islands” of old acacia forests and seasonal swamps flank the pans of the ‘embosel’ ecosystem stretching to the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is this region, away from the busy tourism areas of northern Tanzania, where the elder elephants retreat to live out their final years – in peace and harmony away from the madding crowds. On foot with Maasai warriors or in open top game drive vehicles, we get within meters of Africa’s largest mammals creating timeless moments. Sensing the great peace and beauty of these magnificent creatures and calmly sharing the habitat of the Maasai and their cattle, a true original part of Africa. Experience an early morning excursion to a Maasai boma in the Sinya Plains, where you have the opportunity to get a little insight into the Maasai daily life and tradition. Or join us into the savannah in the southern Amboseli at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, far away from buses crowded with tourists, you may meet with zebras, wildebeest, gazelles or even cheetahs and lions.
Dear Hatari Team, Dear Gabriels!
God sleeps in the stone and breathes in the plant. God dreams within the animal and wakes up within man! – From India
We have been very close to this – Thanks a lot!
